Yoga Improves Balance in Older Women
If you're a woman over the age of 65, you might consider busting a few yoga moves to help with balance and flexibility. According to a recent study at Temple university's Gait Study Center, learning and doing just a few basic yoga poses or asanas, can help prevent falls that are way too common in older women.
Yoga is more than just a relaxation technique, it improves muscle strength that in turn increase stability. Participants were taught very basic yoga techniques that included proper ways to stand, breathe, and pose. Researchers also believe that basic yoga has positive psychological affects as well as physical ones.
